Overview - NYPA's Environmental Justice Program

NYPA’s Environmental Justice (EJ) program is driven by our commitment to always be a good neighbor to the historically underserved and marginalized communities located near our statewide facilities and assets.

Community collaboration and engagement are the hallmarks of this program. We leverage our expertise in energy and energy technology to provide no-cost programs and services that meet the unique needs of our communities.

STEM Education
STEM Education

We provide supplemental, energy-related and age-appropriate STEM programs for students in Grades 3-12. Our programs promote curiosity, increase students’ confidence and help to enhance educational equity by improving STEM competency outside a traditional classroom setting.

Community Engagement and Advocacy
Community Engagement and Advocacy

Our Community Engagement and Advocacy efforts have both an external and internal focus. From street fairs, back-to-school events, or STEM Family Education Celebrations, our EJ team is ready to support our friends and neighbors.

We also work with our colleagues in operations and strategic planning to ensure that the concerns and challenges of our underserved communities are considered in managing current and future projects.
